CAlling ALL Young Musicians IN Ipswich!
The Rock Schools take place over five days during the school holidays at South Street Studios in Ipswich, and are open to all 10-16 year olds.
Under the guidance of our expert tutors, attendees form bands (grouped by age and ability), write and record original music and on the final day perform a concert for friends and family at The Smokehouse music venue.
We have three Rock Schools remaining this year:
30th July - 3rd August (limited places remaining)
27th - 31st August
22nd - 26th October.
HOW IT WORKS...
Songwriting: Days 1 - 3
We deconstruct the songwriting process, exploring how to write engaging lyrics and music to accompany them.
Each band works with one of our experienced tutors, who help them to improve their songs.
The songs can be in any genre (not just rock!) and we encourage all of our bands to be creative and original!
Performing: Days 4 & 5
On day four, the bands head into the recording studio where they work with the studio's engineer to capture a good performance of each song. Adding overdubs (extra guitar parts or vocals) where necessary.
On final day, the Rock School bands rehearse and work on stage presence before performing a concert at The Smokehouse music venue!
Our aim isn't just to improve musical skills, but to also build confidence, self-esteem and team working skills that apply to other areas of life.
Attendees are encouraged to share their ideas and try new things. Be it by trying a new instrument or performing in public for the first time.
Importantly, the Rock Schools are fun. We're firmly of the belief that learning should be an enjoyable experience, not a painful one!
